ArizonaA trip to the Grand Canyon of the Colorado in 1989 fulfilled a childhood dream of Tom. You can read about this trip in our article The Grand Canyon of God and view a video.
Kathy, Mandy, Linda and Jenny at the Grand Canyon in June, 1989.There are few places on earth that so effectively portray the controversy concerning evolution and creation as does the Grand Canyon. Evolutionists look at the mile deep record of the earth's past and they see evidence for the geologic ages they believe stretch back millions of years. Visitors are told that it took nine million years for the canyon to form from a combination of uplifting of the Colorado plateau and erosion from the Colorado River. But creationists look into that huge vast and beautiful hole and see the handiwork of God. If they were given the opportunity to explain to visitors how the canyon got there, they would tell them that the canyon formed in about one year, the work of the Genesis flood and the run-off of water at the end of the flood. There is much evidence for this at the canyon. Much of the rock is sedimentary rock, the kind that is laid down by water. Evolutionists concede that the whole area was once under water. But when I looked into that canyon on my 48th birthday, there was nothing controversial in my mind. What I saw on that sunny, pleasant June 5th, 1989 was nothing less than the Grand Canyon of God.
